As a consequence, the computer program
that acquires the sensor data need not run on the Server nor be aware
of its existence. For example, in one configuration, the sensor program
collecting the X-ray image data runs on a Compac PC. The Server appears
transparently as Drive S: on the PC. The X-ray acquisition program
files the X-ray images on the ExamFolder Server by writing to what
is perceived as the local Drive S:.
